Overview
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease which, in addition to joint, may also have extraarticular manifestations. At present, we know that patients with rheumatoid arthritis have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, which is even comparable to that of patients with diabetes mellitus. The application of preventive measures as well as the awareness of professionals and patients themselves on increased cardiovascular risk, are one of the most important factors that can ultimately affect morbidity and mortality while improving quality of life.
